A Tesla Cybertruck exploded near the entrance of Trump Towers Las Vegas on Wednesday morning, killing one person and injuring seven others, according to police.

The Las Vegas Police Department said in a social media post Wednesday that it is investigating a vehicle fire at the entrance of Trump Towers and that the fire has been extinguished, advising people to avoid the area.

Seven people near the vehicle suffered minor injuries, Thomas Touchstone, deputy fire chief of the Clark County Fire Department, said in a Wednesday news conference broadcast by KSNV News 3. He said a body was found in the truck.

The statement came after several videos appeared on the platform X showing a Tesla Cybertruck in flames, viewed from the hotel lobby. The videos have not been independently verified by The Washington Post.

The Trump Organization confirmed the electric vehicle fire occurred in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and staff remain our top priority. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Las Vegas Fire Department and local law enforcement for their swift response and professionalism,” a spokesperson for the Trump Organization said in a statement to The Post.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the fire was an accident or an intentional act. Las Vegas police did not immediately respond to questions regarding whether the area is being treated as a crime scene.

Local television station KSNV News 3 said a vehicle fire was first reported at 8:41 a.m. local time, citing a Clark County spokesperson.

Stephen Ferlando said he watched the incident from his hotel room on the 53rd floor of the Trump Tower. He said there was “definitely an explosion” and that hotel windows shook violently.

Jeremy Schwartz, acting special agent in charge for the FBI in Las Vegas, said in a Wednesday newscast that the FBI is investigating.

“We’re going to continue to work as hard as we can to hopefully get more information to you,” Schwartz said. “But right now we have a lot of questions and we’re deploying resources, and we will continue to do that until we get to the end of this and find out exactly what happened and why.”
