From 2014: Back roads to the Jersey Shore

This story was originally published on August 22, 2014: The Atlantic City Expressway is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this summer. When it opened on July 31, 1964, it forever changed the way we get to and from the Jersey Shore. This summer, whenever possible while doing photo assignments at the shore, staff photographer Tom Gralish would take the two-lane roads instead of the big toll highways, seeking a glimpse of an older, slower way of travel.
