Authorities ID 85-year-old school bus driver who was fatally hit by another bus in Maple Shade

Authorities have identified an 85-year-old school bus driver who was fatally struck by another bus Tuesday afternoon outside Maple Shade High School in Burlington County.
Jack Hohwald of Maple Shade was outside his bus when he was hit by a bus driven by Frank Vacanti, 77, of Cinnaminson, Maple Shade police said Wednesday. Vacanti remained at the scene.
No charges have been filed in the case, police said. The incident is being investigated by the Maple Shade Police Department Traffic Unit and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.
TV news helicopter video showed police gathered at a lot where school buses are parked outside the high school, which is at 180 Frederick Ave.
“One of our beloved staff members has tragically passed away in an accident in our bus garage,” Beth Norcia, superintendent of the Maple Shade School District, said in a statement Tuesday.
Classes were canceled for Wednesday, Norcia said.
