A Main Line Catholic high school teacher has been charged with having sexual contact with a student and with providing her and her friend with pot brownies and alcohol.

Jeremiah Triplett, 30, of Dresher, who has been placed on administrative leave as a teacher at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor Township, surrendered Wednesday to face charges that include institutional sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Bail was set at 10 percent of $200,000 at a hearing before District Judge Leon Hunter III in Newtown Square.

Radnor police said they started the investigation in late March after receiving reports from child welfare officials regarding allegations that Triplett, a music teacher, had provided students with THC-laced edibles and had sexual contact with at least one student.

According to the police criminal complaint, Triplett, the student, and the student’s friend would often lunch with him in his classroom. They would vape nicotine products and sometimes “ ‘shotgun’ the smoke into each other’s mouths.” The teacher also gave them THC-laced edibles, including pot brownies, as well as mini liquor bottles, the complaint said.

The student told investigators that she and Triplett kissed on several occasions and that he also grabbed her buttocks above her uniform.

Her friend told investigators that the girl had said she and Triplett had “hooked up” and that it occurred in his office.

Another witness, who was not identified, said the girl told her that she had seen the teacher’s penis and that Triplett told the girl he could not wait until she was 18, according to the complaint.

“When Witness asked if she thought Triplett was a sexual predator, Victim 1 stated she was 18 now,” the complaint said.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia said in a statement that Triplett had passed criminal background checks before being hired and had “completed mandatory safe environment training programs."

Radnor police said any other possible victims, or individuals with additional information, can contact them at 610-688-0503.
