Woman raped in Macy’s bathroom in Center City, police say
The attack occurred late Sunday morning inside the department store at 13th and Market Streets.
Police were searching for a man who raped a 55-year-old woman inside a public restroom at the Macy’s in Center City late Sunday morning.
The man, armed with a skewer, waited inside the restroom for about 20 minutes before the woman entered around 11:30 a.m. at the Macy’s department store in the 1300 block of Market Street, police said.
The woman’s husband was in the store but on a different floor, police said.
The attacker fled the store around 11:40 a.m. and entered the subway stop at 13th and Market Streets. He took the train to the 52nd Street Station and exited at 11:54.
Police described the suspect as a thin Black man in his 20s. He was wearing a dark-colored, three-quarters-length jacket with a hood and white letters on the left shoulder, with possibly four buttons on each sleeve. He also wore black pants with a white stripe on the left leg and black sneakers with white around the sole, police said. He wore a surgical mask.
