Broad Street Run lottery registration opens as the race prepares to welcome a full slate of runners
Registration opened in the wee hours of the morning on Feb. 1, but you have until Feb. 15 to try for a bib.
Runners, on your mark.
The Broad Street Run opened registration for its lottery at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday — and for the first time since the pandemic, the scenic 10-mile race is preparing to welcome a full slate of 40,000 participants.
Prospective racers have until 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 15 to register and will be notified during the week of Feb. 19 if they have been selected. Those who didn’t secure a bib will have until March 15 to register for a newly announced virtual run, which they can complete on their own between April and May 15 on a course of their choosing. (And yes, everyone will receive a medal.)
This is the first year since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that the Broad Street Run will not have any health-related restrictions, among other changes to the iconic race.

The run is now set to take place April 30 — instead of during the typical first Sunday in May — to avoid a scheduling conflict with a Phillies home game. There are no vaccine or masking requirements in place, and a packed schedule of race festivities is planned, including a pre-run Sunday Mass and an afterparty.
More than $27,000 in prize money is up for grabs, though virtual participants won’t be eligible for awards.
