Two people were killed and were wounded in shootings on Friday in Philadelphia, including four people in one incident in the city’s Frankford section and a 6-year-old boy grazed by a stray bullet, police said.

Shortly after 10 p.m. in North Philadelphia, an 18-year-old man and a young woman who is seven-months pregnant were sitting in a white Honda on the 2600 block of North Bouvier Street when at least two people — including one armed with a powerful rifle — started shooting at them, said Inspector D.F. Pace.

The man died a short time later, Pace said. The woman, who was shot in the head, was hospitalized in extremely critical condition.

Police found 43 spent shell casings at the crime scene. No arrests were reported.

Earlier on Friday evening, an unidentified man in his 20s was sitting in a car on the 6200 block of Limekiln Pike in East Germantown when he was shot in the head. The car, which was idling, lurched forward and crashed into some parked cars, Pace said.

The victim was taken by police to Einstein Medical Center, where he later was pronounced dead. No arrests were reported.

Around 7:30 p.m., three men and a woman were injured in a drive-by shooting on the 5300 block of Charles Street in Frankford, and the suspect’s vehicle matched one taken in a carjacking last week, police said.

The victims were on the porch of a home when a white 2000 Ford Focus slowed in front and one or more people inside the car started shooting, police said. At least 25 spent shell casings were found at the scene.

A 32-year-old woman was shot several times in the neck and left arm. She was taken by police to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. A 39-year-old man shot in the face and several times in the body was also transported by police to the same hospital, and was also reported in critical condition.

A 33-year-old man shot twice in the right leg was taken by medics to Temple University Hospital and was reported in stable condition. Another man in his 30s was shot in the chest and twice in the right leg. He was taken by police to Torresdale and was listed in critical condition.

The house was struck multiple times, but no one else was hurt, including three children inside, police said.

Police said the vehicle matched the description of one taken in a carjacking on Aug. 5 on the 4300 block of Wingohocking Avenue.

Friday’s shootings happened as gun violence continues to surge in the city. As of Thursday, 1,149 people had been shot this year in Philadelphia and there were 338 homicides — 3% more than the same date last year, which ended in a record 562 homicides.

Around 12:15 p.m., the 6-year-old boy was grazed in the arm by a wayward bullet on the 1600 block of Glenwood Avenue in North Philadelphia, police said.

Capt. John Walker said a man driving a U-Haul pickup truck westbound on Glenwood stopped the truck and began firing shots at a car driving eastbound. One of the shots went through the windshield of a third car, which was behind the gunman’s target, Walker said, and was carrying the boy, his grandmother, and his grandfather, who was driving.

The boy was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where police said he was in stable condition. No one else was struck by gunfire before the gunman in the U-Haul drove away, police said.

Shortly before 5 p.m., three men were shot on the 900 block of Girard Avenue in North Philadelphia.

A 75-year-old man was driving a car when he was shot possibly three times in the left arm, police said. He was taken by medics to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and was listed in stable condition.

The other two shooting victims were outside of the car. A 25-year-old man shot twice in the left arm was taken by police to Temple University Hospital and was reported in stable condition. A 31-year-old man shot in the back and right arm was transported by police to Temple and was listed in critical condition. Police reported no arrests.

Also on Friday, just before 12:20 a.m. in South Philadelphia, a 64-year-old woman was found stabbed multiple times in the throat inside a second-floor hallway on the 2300 block of South 20th Street. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Police said a person was in custody and a knife was recovered.

And shortly before 1 a.m., a 33-year-old man was stabbed in the back on the 6000 block of Vine Street in West Philadelphia. He was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle and was reported in stable condition. Police reported no arrests.
