Then and now: Scenes of post-Sandy progress
Superstorm Sandy, the largest Hurricane recorded along the Atlantic seaboard, was more than 1,000 miles wide just before it made landfall on the New Jersey coast, near Brigantine, on Oct. 29, 2012. The resulting storm surge and winds flooded towns, destroyed homes, ripped down dunes, washed away beaches and left hundreds of thousands without power for weeks in some areas. These photos taken immediately after Sandy, and on Oct. 21, 2013 for comparison.
