Dim Sum Factory, an offshoot of the noted Tom’s Dim Sum, to open in Horsham
The opening at Elements Horsham is targeted for fall.
Tom’s Dim Sum, one of Chinatown’s respected destinations for Shanghai-style soup dumplings, is planning to open a branch in Horsham this fall.
It will be known as Dim Sum Factory, under owner Wei He. The location is the former Taqueria Feliz in the Elements Horsham (303 Horsham Rd.).
It’s assuming a new name because Tom Guo, He’s partner in the Tom’s Dim Sum locations in Chinatown and Media, is planning to retire, says Gabe Amzallag of MSC Retail, who brokered the real estate transaction.
Guo’s original restaurant was known as Dim Sum Garden when it opened in 2007 at 59 N. 11th St. It was sold a year later. The owners closed Dim Sum Garden in fall 2013 and shortly after opened it in a new location, 1020 Race St.
Meanwhile, Guo renovated the 11th Street location and opened it also as Dim Sum Garden. Confusion, and a protracted legal battle, ensued. Guo agreed to call it Tom’s. In 2016, he and He opened in Media.
