When too much baloney is a good thing

This food truck raised $10,000 - and a lot of hope.

Dustin Vitale works the Tony Boloney’s food truck in front of his home in Northeast Philly on March 14. Vitale’s mother, who has terminal cancer, wants to see the Egyptian pyramids before she dies, and Vitale, a Philly teacher, had been selling cheesesteaks to raise money for the trip. After The Inquirer reported the story, Mike Hauke, owner of Tony Boloney’s sandwich and pizza chain in New Jersey, offered to set up a food truck outside Vitale’s home for a day and donate proceeds to Vitale’s fund-raising effort. Here, a smiling Vitale mans the truck during the extravaganza, which reached its goal of $10,000.
