Boy, 16, killed in triple shooting in West Philly
The shooting happened at the Christy Recreation Center in the 5500 block of Christian Street.
A 16-year-old boy was killed in a triple shooting Thursday night at a recreation center in West Philadelphia, police said. He was later identified as Kahree Simmons from the Cobbs Creek section of the city.
The death comes two days after another 15-year-old boy was fatally wounded in shooting in the city’s Kingsessing section.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the Christy Recreation Center at 728 S. 55th St. and found the boy with a bullet wound the back of the neck. Police took him to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was declared dead at 8:16.
A 15-year-old girl suffered a graze wound to her ankle and was treated at the scene by medics. Another 15-year-old boy was grazed in the right arm. He was taken by medics to Children’s Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
Police reported no arrests in that case, and no other details, including the dead teen’s name or circumstances of the shootings, were immediately available.
On Tuesday, Antonio Walker Jr., was fatally wounded in a shooting in the 5200 block of Pentridge Street. There have been no arrests in that case.
