A man died Friday evening at Devil’s Pool, the popular swimming and diving spot in Wissahickon Valley Park, police said.

The man, believed to be in his late-30s, was walking in the vicinity of Devil’s Pool when he fell in the water shortly after 6 p.m., police said. His body was recovered by medics and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His cause of death had yet to be determined.

Devil’s Pool is located in the area where Cresheim Creek flows into Wissahickon Creek and it is illegal to swim there, though most visitors don’t know that or ignore the prohibition.

On June 2, a man was found dead in Wissahickon Creek in what was believed to be a drowning.
