The Pennsylvania State Legislature, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the gun lobby, has long stood in the way of more comprehensive laws to register and track gun sales, measures law enforcement has advocated. On Friday, Governor Wolf, with Philadelphia Police Chief Richard Ross next to him, at last announced executive orders to instruct state agencies to collect more data on gun violence and other efforts to aid local law enforcement.
The drug-related violence in Philadelphia can’t be blamed on guns alone, but cutting down on the weapons may help cut down on the carnage that goes with.
