Political Cartoon: World leaders laugh at Trump, kids held at border not so much

As our short news cycle hops from one bombshell story to the next about our ever inventive President — who was mocked by NATO leaders this week — it’s hard to remember that previously “shocking” stories are still around, and just as shocking.
According to the Associated Press, this year the United States government has held an “unprecedented” 69,550 migrant children at the border. Some of those children have been deported, others sent to U.S. families, but 4,000 remain in our detention shelters. The number is up 42 percent this fiscal year from last. No laughing matter.
