Political Cartoon: Preserving not-quite-Notre Dame buildings
Daily takes from Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Signe Wilkinson.
Historic buildings, including beautiful churches, aren’t just destroyed by fire. Neglect and development take their toll. Looking at Notre Dame’s gutted insides put me in mind of the Shakespeare line, “Bare ruin’d choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.” (Sonnet 73, if you’re interested.)
