I’m a breastfeeding mother who is very lucky: I’m supported at work and home, and I have insurance that covers lactation consultants, but formula has been a literal lifesaver for both of my children.
The formula shortage, caused by supply-chain issues and a massive recall, is putting already exhausted and stressed parents through the wringer, and putting the lives of children at risk.
When the conversation turns once again to the superiority of breastfeeding over formula, it’s not just insensitive, it’s damaging to parents doing their best to make sure their babies are fed.
