Boys' Hoops: Coaches vs. Cancer Classic

Coaches vs. Cancer Classic

The Coaches vs. Cancer High School Basketball Classic, featuring several of the area's top boys' squads, is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Archbishop Wood. Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

The four-game showcase tips at 1:30 p.m., with Plymouth Whitemarsh matched against fellow perennial Suburban One League power Pennsbury. The Colonials' spark plug is 6-foot-3 senior wing and Rider recruit Xzavier Malone. The Falcons are spurred by guard Rob Daly and pair of junior forwards, 6-7 Mark Flagg and 6-8 Isaiah Carpenter.

At 3:15 p.m., defending PIAA Class AA state champ Conwell-Egan takes on Abington. The Eagles have a solid one-two punch in 6-2 guard LaPri McCray-Pace and 6-7 forward Vinny Dalessandro, a Pace recruit. The Galloping Ghosts, who won the District 1 Class AAAA title last season, have guard Robbie Heath and a pair of rising freshman in 6-6 forward Eric Dixon and 6-5 swingman Lucas Monroe.

At 5 p.m., Josh Sharkey (Samford recruit) and long-range sniper Ryan Daly (Hartford) lead Archbishop Carroll against District 11's Parkland. Carroll also features 6-3 wing John Rigsby, guard Colin Daly, and 6-9 forward and Latvia native Miks Antoms.

Finally, at 6:45, Central Bucks West faces Bucks County neighbor Archbishop Wood. The senior-laden Bucks are led by guards Cal Reichwein, who is bound for Lafayette as a preferred walk-on, and Luke Irons, and 6-3 forward Erich Hohenleitner. The host Vikings have a trio of savvy guards in Tommy Funk (Army), Collin Gillespie, and Tyree Pickron.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

The games will be streamed live by the Sports Fan Base Network, www.thesportsfanbasenetwork.com.
