Featherman Unseats Incumbent For Mayor -- In Florida
Bernard Featherman, father of Republican mayoral candidate John Featherman, won his own election this week in the race for mayor in Highland Beach, Fla.
Featherman, 81, unseated the town's incumbent mayor Tuesday. This story in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel says Featherman's campaign focused on questions for the town's leaders in a controversy involving some racist e-mails that got the town manager fired.
Featherman's son, a local real estate agent and GOP committeeman, filed petitions Tuesday for a spot on the ballot in the Republican primary election. He faces Karen Brown, a recently converted Democrat recruited by local GOP leaders, in the primary.
