Briere out vs. Rangers; listed as day-to-day

NEW YORK -- Just when the Flyers appeared to be inching toward a healthy lineup of forwards, another one bites the dust.

Danny Briere will miss tonight's game against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden with a bruised hand. He is day-to-day according to the Flyers.

Briere is not even in New York and is unavailable to play.

"Every team in the league deals with the same thing," coach Peter Laviolette said. "I've said it before, I like the lineup we're putting out on the ice tonight."

The Flyers have not fielded a healthy lineup offensively since Oct. 26.

Sean Couturier (head injury) and Brayden Schenn (concussion) both skated on their own this morning at the team's practice facility in Voorhees. It was Couturier's first time on the ice since sustaining the injury last Saturday.

After tonight's game, many of the Flyers players will scatter to their hometowns for an abbreviated Christmas before returning to practice on Monday. Their five-game road trip resumes on Tuesday in Tampa Bay.
