Shootout leaves Abington officer, suspect wounded
The Inquirer's Peter Mucha reports:
An exchange of gunfire in Abington overnight left a police officer and a suspect hospitalized with gunshot wounds, according to media reports.
The confrontation began about 1 a.m. when a man in his 30s reportedly tried to kick open the door to a home in the 2200 block of Cross Street.
The officer was shot in the leg, and was in stable condition at Abington Memorial Hospital.
The suspect was shot several times.
Abington police expect to release more details soon.
