Drexel student, Saxbys offer free apps
That Scholly app is certainly making a name for itself over the past couple of days.
First, Drexel University senior Christopher Gray, co-founder of Scholly, an app that matches students to scholarships, appeared Friday night on ABC's "Shark Tank" with his invention. The economics major told of his humble upbringing in Alabama and of the $1.3 million in scholarships he received that allowed him to attend Drexel. Scholly was the subject of an intense investor debate during the show and Gray walked away with $40,000 for a 15 percent stake in the app.
And this afternoon, Gray, 23, and Saxbys Coffee announced a partnership to students at Science Leadership Academy in Center City. They will offer the app, which retails for $0.99, to current and future seniors, free of charge.
