Jackson lifts Eagles over Giants

In what can only be described as the wildest game of the season, the Eagles beat the Giants, 45-38, to move in to sole possession of first place in the NFC East.

After the Eagles raced to a quick 14-0 lead, the teams went back and forth, with the Giants taking a lead for the first time in the third quarter, 31-30.

But time after time, the Eagles found new ways to take advantage of a weapon the Giants had no answer for: DeSean Jackson.

Jackson finished with six catches for 178 yards and a touchdown. He also returned a pair of punts for 83 yards and a touchdown. Jackson tied an NFL record for most touchdowns of 50 yards or more in a season with eight.

But perhaps more impressive than the numbers was the timing.

With Eagles fans in full panic mode, and the Giants holding a 31-30 lead, Donovan McNabb found Jackson for a 60-yard bomb as he walked backwards into the end zone to put the Eagles in front once again.

In the second quarter, with the Eagles up 17-10, Jackson took a punt 72 yards to the house in one of the more impressive returns you'll see. Jackson showed great patience before blazing down the sideline all the way to the end zone.

Even early, on the Eagles' first drive, it was Jackson's 32-yard reception from Michael Vick which set up the opening touchdown to Brent Celek.

And Jackson's 44-yard grab late in the first half was key in a scoring drive that resulted in a Vick touchdown.

He's been the most impressive player on the field really since the first full-squad practice at training camp.

On Sunday night Jackson showed once again that he's a threat to score every time he touches the ball.

And the Eagles showed they can win in a shootout, improving to 9-4 on the season and winning their fourth in a row.
