Joe DeCamara to host new show for The Fanatic

Shifting schedules and new hosts are nothing new for radio stations, but 97.5 The Fanatic has had a particularly hectic April of exits, shifting schedules and one big new hire.

Shifting schedules and new hosts are nothing new for radio stations, but 97.5 The Fanatic has had a particularly hectic April of exits, shifting schedules and one big new hire.

Those moves have created several holes to file in the Fanatic's schedule, but the station has moved to fill a big one, announcing that longtime host Joe DeCamara will launch the "The Joe DeCamara Show" tonight at 6 p.m.

"I'm really looking forward to my first show tonight," DeCamara said. "We'll have some special guests with a lot of fun things in store."

"The Joe DeCamara Show," which will air 6:00-10:00 p.m. on weekdays, will fill a hole left by Nick Kayal, who departed the station earlier this month to launch a new national sports program for SiriusXM.

DeCamara previously hosted the 6:00-7:00 p.m. hour for the station, and plans on continuing co-hosting with Ron Jaworski on Wednesdays.

"I'm glad moving forward that we will still use the 6:00 p.m. hour in particular as a platform for specialty shows as I'll continue to co-host each Wednesday night with Jaws," DeCamara said. "We'll have different specialty shows with me co-hosting with others in the 6 o'clock hour down the line as well."

DeCamara has been with the station since 2005, when the old "Sports Talk "950" made its debut in Philadelphia. Despite hosting numerous shows for ESPN Radio nationwide, the St. Joe's graduate is happy to get the chance to host a show here at home.

"I'm the luckiest guy in the world to be on-air in my hometown talking about the teams I grew up following."

No word yet how The Fanatic plans to fill the 12:00-2:00 p.m slot currently held by Jon Marks. Marks had been co-hosting "The Jon and Sean Show" for the station alongside Sean Brace, but Brace departed from the station earlier in April, and Marks is set to join former SportsRadio 94.1 WIP host Anthony Gargano as the station's new morning duo.

No start day for the new morning show has been announced, but sources indicate it will launch before the end of April.
