Former Sixers star and broadcaster Steve Mix is now an usher for the Mets

"I heard somebody say sometime, when you retire and you do nothing, how do you know when you are done?'' Mix said. "I need that place where I can hang my hat. I just need a place where I can do something.''

Mix, known as "The Mayor" by fans who have gotten to know him in Section 101 where he ushers, says he occasionally gets recognized as a former NBA player. But his day is mostly spent helping and hanging out with the team's fans.

"Instead of passing the ball to Julius, I'm helping ladies down to their seats and helping them back up," Mix said. "I have a wonderful time doing it.''
