5 stories to follow: Dec. 13
Happy Friday. Here's your look at five stories to know about before the weekend.
1. Pennsylvania Society: The state's biggest names in politics will travel to New York City today for the annual Pennsylvania Society gala. The 2014 race for governor is expected to be a major focus of the weekend, where the main activities are fundraising, policy discussions and parties. Another potential discussion topic: State Attorney General Kathleen Kane is reportedly considering a run for Senate in 2016.
2. Winter storm: Philadelphia could see its third snow storm this week tomorrow. The snow and ice appears likely to arrive by Saturday afternoon, and John Bolaris will host a live chat at noon Saturday to answer questions and provide updates on the forecast.
3. Army-Navy game: One major event that could get caught in the crosshairs of that storm is the 114th annual Army-Navy Game, scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field.
4. Mega Millions: After no one won Tuesday's drawing, the jackpot for tonight's Mega Millions has soared to $400 million -- the second-highest ever.
5. Mandela burial: The state funeral service and burial for Nelson Mandela, who became president of South Africa after 27 years in jail during apartheid, will take place Sunday. Thousands of mourners have been waiting in a miles-long line to see his body before the casket is taken away later today.
