Couplin, who is 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, played eight games for the Lions this season He had two tackles.

Couplin went undrafted in May out of William & Mary.

The Eagles now have five safeties: Malcolm Jenkins, Nate Allen, Chris Maragos, Chris Prosinski, and Couplin. The signing does not reflect well on Ed Reynolds, the Eagles' fifth-round pick who is still on practice squad.
