Nick Foles' inability to slide isn't so funny anymore

In June, during the doldrums of the NFL calendar, we looked back at the tape from 2013 and found every one of Nick Foles' simultaneously glorious and terrible slides. It gets lonely in my mother's basement, so I have time to do such things. I then converted them into GIFs, and grouped his slides into five different categories:

• The "bicycle"

• The "stop and sit"

• The "flop"

• The "slide-dive hybrid"

• The "Houdini"

As ugly as all of the above slides were, they were sure as hell a lot prettier than whatever Foles did when he fumbled in the fourth quarter after the following first down run against the Rams.

Had the Rams scored on their final drive for the win, Foles' fumble would have been looked at as the turning point in the game.

During OTAs, Foles talked about his slides. "I'm working on it," said Foles. "It's a beautiful grass field (at the NovaCare complex) and we have a slip and slide, so I'll get it before I leave (camp)."

Obviously, Foles did not learn how to slide. Personally, I'm an unathletic, mildly out of shape 37-year-old sportswriter. I can slide. Foles' inability to slide was humorous as long as it wasn't hurting the team. Now it is, and it doesn't seem so funny anymore.
