Young not focused on trade rumors
Thad Young has a season left on his contract with the 76ers. Then he has a player option for the 2015-16 season.
But given where the Sixers stand, it's possible that the franchise will look to trade him before the NBA trading deadline on Feb. 20, 2014.
There's even an ESPN.com report that the power forward could be moved to the Houston Rockets next week in exchange for center Omer Asik.
Asked about the rumor after Monday morning's shootaround, the 6-foot-8, 230-pounder said essentially what you would expect.
"I'm not worrying about the trade or anything," said Young, whose squad faces the Los Angeles Clippers Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center. "It's a business. If it happens, it happens. I just have to live with it and keep moving on.
"But at the end of the day, I'm here, I'm focused, and I'm ready to go out here. I'm thinking about the game tonight."
The 25-year-old was averaging 15.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals heading into Monday's game. He was also shooting 37.8 percent on three-point attempts (14-for-37). Young is now in his seventh season, all with the Sixers.
"I definitely love Philly, and want to continue being here," he said. "If they see fit to trade me, then hey, my time is up and I have to move on."
