TNA Impact Wrestling report (09/16/15): The Global Force Wrestling invasion is over already
Even when TNA supposedly wins, it still finds some impossible way to lose in the grand scheme of things.
Wednesday night's edition of Impact Wrestling centered around the Lethal Lockdown match between Team TNA and Team Global Force Wrestling where the winner would receive 100 percent control of TNA.
The intrigue surrounding the match was based on whom the fifth member of Team TNA would be. As expected, the mystery was held off until the last possible moment and it turned out to be Bram.
Yes, that same Bram who back on Aug. 31 was charged with two felony counts of domestic battery and false imprisonment.
To TNA's credit, the company took swift action in suspending Bram, whose real name is Thomas Latimer, from any future events that were sanctioned by the company.
Unfortunately, the company couldn't take him off events that have already taken place, which leads us back to Wednesday's episode of Impact Wrestling, which was taped more than a month ago.
Nevertheless, Bram will go down in history as the man that helped even the odds for TNA and defeat Global Force Wrestling to maintain control of its own company.
Bram being in that position is a prime example of TNA not being able to get out of its own way even when it tries really, really hard to do so. TNA isn't at fault for Bram's legal situation, but it still doesn't look good for the company when a man with a pair of felonies hanging over his head is one of the reasons why TNA fended off a hostile takeover from a rival promotion.
Speaking of that hostile takeover, it came and went pretty quickly, didn't it? In fact, it lasted a little more than a month in television time. It was even shorter in real time, as TNA tapes two month's worth of television over the course of a few days.
If you go by the airdates of TNA television, Jeff Jarrett returned to TNA television back on July 24. The Global Force Wrestling roster began to make its presence known on the Aug. 12 edition of Impact Wrestling.
Two weeks later on Aug. 26, Jarrett finally turned against TNA president Dixie Carter, which led into Lethal Lockdown, which was less than a month later.
In just over two months, TNA went from its own company to being invaded to wrestling back control. What a whirlwind. Oh, by the way, the company's biggest show of the year is coming up in a little more than two weeks.
Let's not worry about building any momentum for that. There's an invasion going on. Let's worry about the 110th storyline about control of TNA.
The Lethal Lockdown match itself was good. Everyone involved, including Jarrett himself, worked hard to put on an entertaining match, but it wasn't good enough to make people truly care.
Among the other positive takeaways was a very good Knockouts title match and the sort of funny sight of Jeff Hardy wearing that stupid suit Ethan Carter III made him put on.
Here are the full match results:
- Mahabali Shera def. Abyss
- TNA Knockouts championship – Gail Kim def. Brooke, Awesome Kong & Lei'D Tapa
- Lethal Lockdown Team TNA (Drew Galloway, Lashley, The Wolves & Bram) def. TNA Global Force Wrestling (Sonjay Dutt, Eric Young, Brian Myers, Chris Mordetzky & Jeff Jarrett)
