WWE NXT results and observations (12/14/16): Shinsuke Nakamura reigns supreme
This week's episode of NXT was all about the NXT championship, as all five matches featured on the program surrounded the title.
The show began with an NXT championship match between the champion Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe within the confines of a steel cage in a match that took place back on Dec. 8 at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
The match was better than their match in Japan from a week prior, but still not up to the level expected from the two talented wrestlers. At the end of the day, Nakamura retained the title with a series of Kinshasas to end his rivalry with Joe once and for all.
After that chapter closed, a new one started back at Full Sail as the qualifying matches for next week's No. 1 contender's fatal four-way took place.
First up was Tye Dillinger going up against Eric Young. Dillinger advanced, but by disqualification due to interference from Young's running mates in Sanity.
Dillinger managed to fend the trio off, but Big Damo attacked him from behind. Damo then walked by Sanity without saying a word.
Joining Dillinger in the match next week will be Andrade "Cien" Almas, Roderick Strong and his NXT Takeover: Toronto opponent, Bobby Roode.
