NBC Sports' Premier League TV schedule, and how the MLS Cup playoffs fit in
NBC Sports has unveiled its TV schedule for English Premier League games through December 1.
This post reflects the first half of the 2013-14 Premier League season, and is no longer being updated. Click here for the current schedule for games from December through May.
Here is the most up-to-date version of NBC's combined English Premier League, MLS and U.S. national team broadcast schedules. You'll also find the latest information on which pay-TV providers have the the Extra Time TV channels and online streaming access.
Comcast Xfinity (see note below)
DirecTV (491-495)
Cablevision Optimum (470-475)
Bright House Networks (varies by region; 1831-1835 in central Florida, including Clearwater)
AT&T U-verse (1691-1694 for high definition, 691-694 for standard definition)
Time Warner (check your cable box guide)
Cox (varies by region; check your cable box guide)
Suddenlink (check your cable box guide; service is provided in these states)
Mediacom (check your cable box guide; service is provided in these states)
Comcast is providing game feeds through Xfinity On Demand, but they are not available in all of the provider's markets right now. You'll find the feeds via a dedicated Premier League section under Sports and Fitness. They won't show up until a few minutes before kickoff.
Also, you won't be able to truly watch games live unless you pick one and stick with it from the start. If you join a feed after kickoff, it will start you from zero. Comcast is working on technology to broadcast truly live content through On Demand. They've never done it before. It's supposed to be ready soon, and I'll let you know as soon as it's rolled out. There's more information here.
If you don't have Extra Time in your On Demand system, you aren't alone. Comcast expects all customers to have access to Extra Time by the end of the year. There's a caveat, though: some cable boxes don't provide access to On Demand in the first place. If you have that kind of box, you won't have access to Extra Time.
Online and on-demand streaming via NBCSports.com and NBC Sports Live Extra mobile and tablet apps
Comcast Xfinity
DirecTV
Dish Network
Verizon FiOS
Cablevision Optimum
Cox
AT&T U-verse
Suddenlink
Charter
If you can't watch a game live, all games will be be archived on NBC's website for on-demand viewing with pay-TV provider authentication. Your provider must give you access to Live Extra streaming in order to access games on demand.
It's easy to watch streams online if your provider gives you access. Go to NBC Sports' website or load up the Live Extra app and log in through your cable account, and everything will work.
Many smaller cable providers also carry the TV and/or online packages. NBC has specifically mentioned RCN, CenturyLink Prism, Blue Ridge Communications and Buckeye CableSystem.
Note that Verizon FiOS and Dish Network give you access to the online streams, but not the overflow TV channels as of now. This will impact Philadelphia-area soccer fans. Dish Network was originally on board to carry the TV channels, but bailed just a few days before the start of the season. Time Warner has provided the TV channels but not online streaming.
In addition to noting channel assignments for games, I have noted the game that will be called by NBC's commentary crew. Arlo White will do play-by-play, with Lee Dixon and Graeme Le Saux alternating gams as color analysts. All other games will be called by the Premier League's world feed announcers.
Games in Spanish on Telemundo and mun2 will be called by Andrés Cantor or Manuel Sol and Sammy Sadovnik.
All times below are Eastern. MLS and U.S. national team games are in italics.

Counting all of the games and all of the shoulder programming (which runs to 9:00 p.m.), that's 14 straight hours of soccer on NBCSN.
Note that EPL games kick off an hour later on this weekend because the United Kingdom changes to Standard Time earlier in the year than the United States does.

12:00 p.m.: Chelsea vs. Manchester City (NBCSN/Arlo White and Tim Howard, mun2/Andrés Cantor and Sammy Sadovnik)

1:30 p.m.: D.C. United vs. Houston Dynamo (NBC/John Strong, Robbie Mustoe and Russ Thaler)
You read that right: U.S. national team goalkeeper Tim Howard will work as Arlo White's color analyst on NBCSN's Chelsea-Man City broadcast. And yes, he will do so a day after playing for his club team, Everton. The assignment was first reported by Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch. It will make for compelling television, and pehaps a useful distraction if Union fans are sweating out a flicker of hope for the playoffs.
For the Union and the rest of MLS, this was the last day of the regular season. The playoffs began a few days later.

8:00 p.m.: E3. New England Revolution vs. E2. Sporting Kansas City (NBCSN simulcast of Comcast SportsNet New England/Brad Feldman, Jeff Causey and Mike Keegan)

No MLS or EPL games due to FIFA international window from November 13 through November 20
The playoff games for the final World Cup qualifying spots will take place during this FIFA window. Games in Europe and Africa will be played on November 15 and 19, while the inter-continental playoffs - Mexico vs. New Zealand and Uruguay vs. Jordan - will be played on November 13 in Mexico City (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN/Univision or UniMás) and November 20 in Wellington (1:00 a.m. ET, ESPN/Univision or UniMás).
The United States will play at Scotland on the 15th (3:00 p.m., ESPN2/UniMás) and at Austria on the 19th (2:45 p.m., NBC Sports Network). The latter game will be NBCSN's first broadcast of a U.S. national team game on foreign soil.
Last year, the FIFA window landed between the conference finals and championship game, giving MLS a two-week window between those rounds. This time, it lands in the middle of a round, which is quite inconvenient.
The league considered playing games during the FIFA window so that it wouldn't have to have teams play up to four games in a week and a half. Those conversations began before CONCACAF World Cup qualifying ended, and continued right up until the eve of the playoffs. In the end, MLS decided to stay with the schedule it originally set out.
