Merck & Co. Inc., the Whitehouse Station pharmaceutical company with significant operations in the Philadelphia area, named Carlos E. Represas to its board. Represas is chairman of Nestlé Mexico. He retired in 2004 as executive vice president and head of the Americas for Nestlé S.A. and also was chairman, president and chief executive officer of Nestle Group Mexico from 1983 to 1994.

The Philadelphia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, a professional association, elected its 2009 board.

Jack Horner, president of Jack Horner Communications Inc., Philadelphia, is president.

Michael Gross, president and co-owner of Anne Klein Communications Group, Marlton, is president-elect.

Anne Buchanan, president of Buchanan Public Relations, Ardmore, is vice president.

Sarah Casey, assistant account executive of Maven Communications, Philadelphia, is secretary.

Molly Wilson, account supervisor of Tierney Communications Inc., Philadelphia, is treasurer.

Jonathan Morein is director of public relations of the Altus Group, Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Bar Foundation, a nonprofit organization, named Amy B. Ginensky president. She is a partner with Pepper Hamilton L.L.P. and chairwoman of its commercial litigation practice group.

Living Beyond Breast Cancer, Haverford, a national nonprofit education and support organization for women and families affected by breast cancer, elected Wanda E. Flowers, Danielle Halstrom, and Byron D. Hewett to its board. Flowers is a management attorney specializing in labor and employment at Sunoco Inc., Philadelphia. Halstrom is executive director of global public relations at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Collegeville. Hewett is the former chief executive officer and president of Immunicon Corp., Huntingdon Valley.

Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse, a Philadelphia nonprofit organization, elected Wendell Anthony Ewing and Andrea Danielle Swan to its board. Ewing is director of leasing and development for Liberty Property Trust, Malvern. Swan is city and neighborhood relations manager, office of the senior vice president for government, community, and public affairs at Temple University, Philadelphia.

Life Laboratory Inc., a Fort Washington nonprofit research and education group dedicated to improving primary health-care delivery, elected Stanley A. Braverman to its board. He is a former deputy district director of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for the Philadelphia District.

Chris Satullo was elected to the board of the National Issues Forums Institute, a nonprofit organization. He is executive director for news and civic dialogue at WHYY and was a journalist with The Philadelphia Inquirer.

David E. Goss was elected vice president of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners (PACFE) and director of operations of the organization. He is a CPA and partner at Beard Miller Co. L.L.P., Reading.

Joseph P. Davis of Valley Forge was appointed to the board of AndreuWorld, Valencia, Spain, a contract furniture company. He is the marketing director of AndreuWorldAmerica, Chicago.
