Melissa A. Lazar was appointed surgeon at the Jefferson Breast Care Center and assistant professor of surgery at Thomas Jefferson University. Lazar recently completed her general-surgery residency at Jefferson and fellowship in breast oncology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Marketing and media company allen & gerritsen promoted Chris Reif to senior vice president for creative and innovation. Reif, who cofounded a&g's Philadelphia office in 2007, has operated as the agency's digital creative director for six years.

The following are new hires: Kim Collins, former lead consultant at Rapaxity, is senior digital strategist; Nick Ewertz, former copywriter at Red Square Agency, is senior writer; Tony Frusciante, former senior art director at Hill Holliday, is creative director; and Kyle Harty, former manager of social media at Visit Philadelphia, is community supervisor.

Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin P.C., Lansdale, hired Jonathan L. Shaw as an associate in its litigation department. He had served as a judicial intern to Judge Lynne A. Sitarski, U.S. judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and Judge Glynnis D. Hill, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

Nuron Biotech Inc., an Exton developer of biologics and vaccines for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative and infectious diseases, elected Warren D. Cooper to its board in addition to the operational roles of interim president and chief executive officer. Warren, who has 30 years' experience in the global pharmaceutical industry, most recently was CEO of Prism Pharmaceuticals.

ACE USA, Philadelphia, promoted Teresa Black to senior vice president and chief operating officer of ACE USA Surety. She most recently was senior vice president, distribution management, at ACE USA.

AC Lordi, a Malvern provider of accounting, risk-management consulting, and executive-search services, hired Jim O'Malley as senior manager of business development. He had been a senior sales executive for the private-equity and marine-industry sectors at Marsh McLennan Cos.

Atlas Pipeline Partners L.P., a Philadelphia-based operator of natural gas pipelines and processing plants, named Patrick J. McDonie president of Atlas Pipeline Partners GP L.L.C., the partnership's general partner. McDonie will remain chief operating officer.

AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center hired David Kashmer as director, division of trauma. Kashmer joins AtlantiCare from the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pa., where he was the section chief of acute-care surgery, which includes trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery.

Social-media and public-relations agency Slice Communications L.L.C., Philadelphia, hired Jackie Freiberg as a social-media account manager. She had been a marketing coordinator at BE Marketing Solutions, Conshohocken.

Sherman Silverstein, Moorestown, hired Arthur J. Abramowitz and Jerrold N. Poslusny Jr. as shareholders. They will lead the firm's newly formed bankruptcy, insolvency, and workout practice group. Both attorneys join Sherman Silverstein from Cozen O'Connor, where Abramowitz was senior counsel and Poslusny was a member of the firm.

Gennine Uliasz has joined WXPN, Philadelphia, as digital-content manager. She had been news editor/producer for CNBC.com.

Presbyterian Children's Village, Rosemont, hired Cheryl Burkett as director of foster care and adoption, a program that operates from the Preheim Center in Southwest Philadelphia. She was division director of child welfare and director of treatment foster care, general foster care, and adoption and permanency service for Northern Home for Children in Philadelphia.

Brinker Capital, a Berwyn investment-management firm, promoted William Simon, managing director, Retirement Plan Services and Brinker Investment Services, to executive vice president of sales and distribution. Leo Dolan, Brinker Capital principal and national sales director, will assume the newly formed position of executive vice president-Brinker Family Wealth Partners.

Kleinbard Bell & Brecker L.L.P., Philadelphia, hired Zachary C. Glaser as a partner in the litigation department and a member of the employment group. Glaser was a shareholder at the law firm Ogletree Deakins.

Adam Roth has been promoted to partner at Deloitte Tax L.L.P., Philadelphia.
