Former DEP chief Quigley lands at Penn energy center

John Quigley, who resigned in May as Gov. Wolf's environmental protection secretary, will join the University of Pennsylvania's Kleinman Center for Energy Policy as a senior fellow on July 1.

John Quigley, who resigned in May as Gov. Wolf's environmental protection secretary, will join the University of Pennsylvania's Kleinman Center for Energy Policy as a senior fellow on July 1.

Quigley, who was forced to resign after he sent a private email encouraging environmental activists to lobby for gas-drilling regulations, "brings a wealth of policy expertise to Penn's students and faculty," Mark Alan Hughes, the Kleinman Center's director, said in a statement Wednesday.

Quigley will give a public lecture in the fall on Pennsylvania's energy and environmental policy challenges and will teach a spring seminar on energy policy. He will also write blog posts and energy policy digests.

"Throughout my career, I have been committed to connecting the protection of public health, the environment, and natural resources to robust, sustainable economic growth," Quigley said in a statement. "I look forward to writing, speaking, and contributing to the center's thought leadership on energy policy innovation, sustainability, and smart pathways to a low-pollution, high-growth, zero carbon future."

Quigley was secretary of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in the Rendell administration and a consultant for PennFuture before he joined Wolf's cabinet.
