Comcast Corp. has hired Virgin Media executive Dana Strong to head Xfinity brands and services, making her the highest-ranking woman in the Philadelphia-based Comcast Cable division.

Strong will oversee Xfinity residential TV, high-speed internet, and smartphone sales and marketing, in addition to sales data-intelligence groups. Her title will be president of consumer services. Comcast Cable accounted for 62 percent of Comcast's $84.5 billion in revenue last year.

Now based in London, Strong, 47, will be moving to Philadelphia. She was unavailable for comment. A bio on the Women in Cable Telecommunications website indicates she is familiar with Philadelphia, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in art history and economics.

Strong will report to Comcast Cable CEO Dave Watson. Comcast cable business unit leaders will remain in their positions, reporting to Strong.

Owned by John Mallone's Liberty Global, Virgin Media offers high-speed internet and phone service to millions of consumers in Britain.

"Dana has an impressive career and great track record driving growth, digital transformation, and improving the customer experience for some of the fastest-growing companies in the industry," Watson said in a statement. Strong said she was "delighted to join Comcast."
