Doylestown Health breaks ground on heart and vascular center

Doylestown Health plans to build a $42 million Center for Heart & Vascular Care, the nonprofit said Friday. The planned 100,000-square-foot building will have 30 private rooms and is expected to open in 2019.

"This construction and the expansion of heart and vascular services is a significant development in the nearly century-old tradition of our health system," Jim Brexler, president and chief executive of Doylestown Health, said in a news release posted on the organization's website. "Our cardiovascular program continues to grow, providing excellent outcomes and attracting patients throughout the region. This new state-of-the-art facility will enhance an already exceptional patient experience."

In the year ended June 30, the organization had $322 million in total revenue and an operating gain of $650,603, excluding a $2.4 million loss related to a debt refinancing.
