U.S. Pipe & Foundry to eliminate 180 jobs in Burlington
An Atlanta company, Mueller Water Products Inc., said today its U.S. Pipe & Foundry L.L.C. business will close its ductile iron pipe manufacturing operations in Burlington by February, and eliminate about 180 jobs.
An Atlanta company, Mueller Water Products Inc., said today its U.S. Pipe & Foundry L.L.C. business will close its ductile iron pipe manufacturing operations in Burlington by February, and eliminate about 180 jobs.
The New Jersey plant will still be used as a distribution center for customers in the Northeast. The company said it will shift production to other U.S. pipe facilities in an effort to "remain competitive and increase margins."
Mueller Water, which is in the water infrastructure business with 6,600 employees and $1.85 billion in annual revenues, expects to record a $19 million restructuring charge in the fiscal 2008 first quarter.
Shares fell 49 cents, or 5 percent, to $9.17 on the New York Stock Exchange.
