Le Meridien's owners plan improvements to hotel entryway and public areas

The owners of Le Meridien hotel at 1421 Arch Street plan to spend $1 million on improvements to its entryway and ground-floor public areas.

The work includes a new "undulating sculpture" at the hotel's entrance and the conversion of its restaurant into a private dining room, according to a release this week from HEI Hospitality LLC, which owns and operates the property with Walton Street Capital of Chicago.

The work is slated to begin Monday and finish by March 31, Norwalk, Conn.-based HEI said.
