On The Market: Family gem on quiet Queen Village street for $1.15M
The kitchen has been recently renovated and now features luxury appliances, maple cabinetry and a new island with a wine cooler built in.
By her estimation, Joan Rainer has lived on the 300 block of Pemberton Street longer than any other resident.
"We have lived here for 29 years and raised our son and daughter here," Rainer said.
She and her late husband Brad bought their three-bedroom Queen Village home when it was just a blueprint in 1987 and moved in May 1988.
"We loved the large spaces and master bedroom," Rainer said. "We loved the quiet street in a busy area."
Pemberton Street in Queen Village is tightly knit and known to have little traffic.
"There have been block parties through the years and the neighbors spend time outside with their children getting to know each other," Rainer said.
Through the nearly three decades the Rainers owned the home, they have made a series of improvements.
"We have done a lot of structural repair but it's very solid now with new decks, joists and stucco in the rear of the house."
The kitchen has also been recently renovated and now features luxury appliances, maple cabinetry and a new island with a wine cooler built in.
Rainer expects new buyers will be attracted to many of the things she and her husband found appealing.
"The house is very wide and deep and it feels much larger than a typical city house," she said.
The home is also within the Meredith School catchment and features a private garage.
Rainer said it's time to sell now that she's ready to downsize. Her guest rooms aren't as busy as they once were.
"I'm selling now because the house is too big for just myself," she said. "My son and his family recently moved back to Philadelphia from Brooklyn, so they don't need to stay here with me on visits anymore."
The home is listed by Mike McCann at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach for $1,150,000.
