Airport to conduct Monday job fair

Government agencies, car rental companies, restaurants, and airlines at Philadelphia International Airport will hire 200 workers to fill airport jobs at a job fair on Monday in North Philadelphia.

More than 30 airport employers and agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, are prepared to hire on the spot to fill jobs as customer service representatives, sales associates, bartenders, managers, and assistant managers, cashiers, and more, the airport said.

The City of Philadelphia and the Division of Aviation, in conjunction with Philadelphia Council president Darrell L. Clarke, will host the job fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Liacouras Center, 1776 N. Broad St., on the Temple University campus.

Job applicants must have a resumé to enter the Liacouras Center and multiple copies to give to employers.

The airport on that day will provide free resumé-review services to "anyone who'd like to sit down and have their resumé reviewed," airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica said.

The openings are to fill a variety of jobs, including positions at airport eateries, Xpres Spa, and Starbucks.

The airport held a job fair in July to fill 300 concession and retail positions, mostly at the newly renovated Terminal F.

"Last year, more than 1,300 job seekers attended the PHL job fair," airport CEO Mark Gale said. "This year, we anticipate seeing more. This job fair not only benefits both job seekers and employers at PHL, but helps ensure that residents in the area have the first opportunity to fill open positions in businesses at PHL," he said.
