Love is in the air at NBC10 and CBS3
Rosemary Connors is engaged. Syma Chowdhry tied the knot.
LOVE is in the air at NBC10 and CBS3.
Wedding bells rang at CBS3 on Friday as reporter Syma Chowdhry and cameraman Andy Zaremba said 'I do' at the Hotel Monaco.
How cute is this?
Chowdhry and Zaremba tied the knot a year to the day after they met, March 14, 2013, when Chowdhry joined CBS3.
Chowdhry wore a long, lacy gown, complete with a lace-edged veil. Their cake was a red, white and blue delicacy from Potito's Bakery, topped with a tiny replica of the famous Robert Indiana "LOVE" statue.
The couple plan to take a Caribbean cruise for their honeymoon.
Over at NBC10, weekend anchor Rosemary Connors said yes to Ben Cross, who manages a family-run chimney-restoration business, Media-based D.J. Cross.
Cross popped the question while the two were taking a rare break from work in Puerto Rico while Connors was on spring break from Temple Law. She's in her fourth year as a part-time student.
The couple have been dating for four years and were introduced through mutual friends.
No date has been set yet, but I'll keep you updated on the details.
Miss, crowned
Diamond Edmonds, 24, has an apt name for her new position: She was crowned Miss Philadelphia this weekend. The Millersville grad was the first runner-up last year. A teacher at People for People Charter School, Edmonds will move on to the Miss Pennsylvania pageant in Pittsburgh in June.
Philly 'Treasure'
"Barry'd Treasure," A&E's spin-off of "Storage Wars," comes to Philly for its premiere episode tomorrow night at 10. In the show, "Storage Wars" star Barry Weiss will share rare collectibles from across the country. Fingers crossed for some weirdo local finds.
Because it's obligatory to mention cheesesteaks anytime Philadelphia is mentioned in national media, Weiss stops by Geno's Steaks (1219 S. 9th St.) to fuel his treasure-hunting ways.
In 'Hell's'
Chef Gordon Ramsay will have quite a bit of contention with a Philadelphian on this season of "Hell's Kitchen." Overbrook High School grad Joy Parham-Thomas is a contestant on the Fox cooking show.
Seems like Parham-Thomas is up for the challenge of dealing with the notoriously volatile Ramsay. "I don't like working for lax people. It makes the other people around you lax," Parham-Thomas said in her intro video. "It's tacky."
That's our Philly lady! Catch Parham-Thomas at 9 p.m. on Thursdays on Fox.
App-titude
Michael Scipione, health-focused caterer and personal chef for Mike Jerrick, of "Good Day Philadelphia," released a new healthy-recipes iPhone app called The Big Sexy. Co-written by former Sexy Single Envy McKee, the app features healthy-eating recipes. The app can be purchased in the iTunes store for $2.99.
'Wanted' in town
Howard Stern's investigative reporter and former "America's Most Wanted" personality Jon Leiberman, along with co-writer Margaret McLean, will sign copies of the new book Whitey on Trial: Secrets, Corruption, and the Search for Truth, about Boston gangster Whitey Bulger, Wednesday at Barnes & Noble (1805 Walnut St.) at 5 p.m.
