High-school theater awards given

The best high school theater in the region was recognized Sunday with the Greater Philadelphia Cappies, presented at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.

The best high school theater in the region was recognized Sunday with the Greater Philadelphia Cappies, presented at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.

A total of 42 awards were given based on reviews by high school journalists of plays and musicals at 34 participating schools, according to a news release.

The top awards:

Musical - Bordentown Regional High School for its production of Legally Blonde.

Play - Unionville High School for Running in the Red.

Lighting - Cole Gamber of Upper Darby High School.

Orchestra - Conestoga High School.

Lead Actress in a play - Natalie Oppenheimer, Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy.

Lead actor in a play - Konrad Heppler, Phoenixville Area High School.

Lead actress in a musical - Arden Walker, Bordentown Regional High School.

Lead actor in a musical - Noah Newton, West Chester East High School.
