TEMPLE UNIVERSITY has received a $25 million pledge, the largest single donation in the school's history, from Lewis Katz, who is part owner of the Daily News, Inquirer and Philly.com.
Katz made the surprise announcement Wednesday night during a dinner being held to honor him at the Fox School of Business with the 2013 Musser Award for Excellence in Leadership.
"The evening was intended to honor Lewis for his exceptional leadership and entrepreneurial success," president Neil Theobald said in a statement. "Not surprisingly, he reflected that honor right back on Temple with this historic gift."
Katz, a '63 Temple grad, has been a member of Temple's Board of Trustees since 1998. He did not specify how the donation would be used.
