The 2011 Wisscapades Around the World will present performances by 150 skaters and competitive performers Friday and Saturday at the Wissahickon Skating Club.

Beginning at 7:30 both nights, the ice show will feature skaters of all ages and abilities including the club's junior and senior figure skaters, synchronized skating teams, and hockey players.

Also appearing will be local and national competitors such as the dance team of Baxter Burbank and Katharine Zeigler; West Chester East High School student Kirsten Seagers; and Emmanuel Savary, 13, of Newark, Del., who placed fourth in the junior men's free skate at the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The show will be based on music from around the world.

School House Rock

Kids can rock out during the stage production of

School House Rock

on Friday and Saturday at the Broadway Theatre of Pitman.

Children will be "edu-tained" by the show based on the Saturday-morning ABC programs, changing the perception that education can't be fun. Kids will learn while singing to the beat of School House Rock's popular songs such as "Conjunction Junction," "Unpack Your Adjectives," "I'm Just a Bill," and more.

Castles and conquests

Children can make castles Saturday morning at Fonthill Museum's workshop Towers and Trebuchets.

Designed for children 6 to 12, the program will teach about castles, and then kids can make their own with recycled materials. Kids can also discover and try their skills with trebuchets, medieval catapults used to throw objects.
