Undoing a huge U.S. cultural Boo-Boo

THERE'S HOPE for other 7-year-old bottle-blondes - former toddler Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson is hanging up her tiara.

The big announcement was made exclusively to In Touch magazine by Alana's newlywed mother, "Mama" June Shannon, 33.

"We haven't done a pageant for a while, because we're so busy with our show [TLC's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo"] and school and life in general."

June acknowledges that Alana "misses the stage," but said, "We still have all our pageant friends. We go along and cheer on our other pageant friends."

What's next for Alana?

"Mama" June said, "Alana's trying different things, but I don't think she's found that new niche yet that she wants to get into."

The South Beach, Fla., mansion once owned by fashion designer Gianni Versace (and the place where he was fatally shot) is headed for the auction block after a few years as a boutique hotel.

Fisher Auction Co. is handling the sale, scheduled for Sept. 17. The 23,000 square-foot, 10BR, 11BTH mansion had previously been listed for $125 million.

Originally built in 1930, it features a 54-foot long mosaic pool lined with 24-karat gold. It also includes numerous frescoes, ornate statues, arched doorways and an open air courtyard.

In 1997, the 50-year-old Versace was killed in front of the property by a man who later committed suicide.

* One cult hit deserves another.

Syfy Network is announcing a sequel to "Sharknado," which became an instant camp classic with its recent airing. The new film will premiere in 2014.

This time the mayhem moves from Los Angeles to New York City. There, as before, sharks can be expected to plunge from the sky and plow through the streets as a result of an ecological nightmare. No other details of the film were disclosed.

Syfy also announced a special Twitter contest to give the movie an appropriate subtitle. Fans can tweet their subtitles to @SyfyMovies using the hashtag #Sharknado.

How about, "Sharknado 2: The Big Apple Gets Eaten to its Core."

Aired last week, nearly 1.37 million viewers tuned in to the disaster film.

* The Newark Star-Ledger reports that while performing in Ireland on Tuesday night, Bruce Springsteen honored Trayvon Martin by singing "American Skin (41 Shots)."

The Boss originally wrote the song about the police shooting death of Amadou Diallo in New York City in 1999.

It was first performed in 2000.

* Liv Tyler on her 9-year-old son, Milo, to digital magazine The Edit:

"To have a son was huge for me," she said, "because it's been the most solid, healthy, consistent relationship I've ever had with a male in my whole life."

* Tough week for the Travis family.

While Randy Travis tries to recover from major surgery in a Texas hospital, his 50-year-old brother, David Traywick, was arrested in North Carolina after sheriff's deputies found a meth lab inside his home.

Deputies arrested Traywick, his wife, Jessica, and two other women, charging them with conspiracy to traffic meth. Bond was set at $500,000 bond apiece for the Traywicks, who were scheduled to appear in court yesterday.

Last September, deputies charged David Traywick with cooking meth in a makeshift lab near his home in Marshville, about 35 miles southeast of Charlotte.

* Reuters reports that 73-year-old Tina Turner finally tied the knot last week with her longtime partner, German-born, cradle-robbed record producer Erwin Bach, in a civil ceremony in Switzerland. He's 57.

This Sunday they're slated to follow it up with a Buddhist water ceremony at their home on the banks of Lake Zurich.

Tina, a Swiss resident for two decades, reportedly apologized to her neighbors in advance for any additional noise.

* Adam Levine's chair turned around for model Behati Prinsloo. Now it can be lifted up at the wedding.

The tattooed, T-shirt-wearing "Voice" judge and Maroon 5 frontman is engaged.

Adam proposed to Behati over the weekend in LA. The couple started dating last year and had broken up in the spring, but Adam missed Behati, and when they reunited sparks flew - the kind of sparks Adam usually only has with Blake Shelton.

He's 34 and Behati's 24, but as a Victoria's Secret model she's mature for her age.
