Tons of pumpkins, apples, kids and parents fill popular Linvilla Orchards to capacity this time of year.
KIDDIN' AROUND...
LINVILLA ORCHARDS
The long: Century-old, 300-acre, year-round agri-entertainment operation is busiest now, for "Pumpkinland's" 100 tons of squash, plus pick-your-own apples, corn and straw-bale mazes, hay- and pony rides, apple slingshots.
The short: Roadside farmstand-meets-A.C. Moore-meets country fair. (Note: pumpkins for sale, not picking.)
The crowd: Weekends, countless families with young kids. Weekday mornings, school groups.
Refreshments: Pumpkin-spice funnel cake, pepperoni bread, apple-cider doughnuts, grilled corn on the cob, Nelson's Ice Cream, caramel apples, burgers, nuggets.
Restrooms: Behind main market. Orchards have port-a-potties.
Pay up: 20-minute hayride, $6; playground, $1 per kid.
Getting there: Drive. Park in one of several dirt lots.
Moment to yourself: Only in the port-a-potty.
When to go: Weekdays at 1 p.m. Weekends before 10 a.m., when hayrides, mazes open.
