On Oct. 22 at the Union League, 350 board members, faculty, and friends of King's College attended the presentation of the Rev. James Lackenmier Award for Achievement and Leadership. Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception, dinner, and award ceremony in full Union League style. This year's honoree was Richard J. Pinola, a former Price Waterhouse executive and former president and CEO of Penn Mutual Life Insurance. Pinola is a 1967 graduate of the school in Wilkes-Barre. Cochairs were Karin Purcell and Patrick Murphy. The more than $260,000 in proceeds will go to the Presidential Hope Fund, to be used to provide financial assistance to students in need. Before the dinner, the McGowan School of Business hosted its 11th annual networking forum, in which business leaders, mostly King graduates, advised and mentored students.
