'Golden Girls' starts streaming on Hulu

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and while we think about it as a holiday to celebrate romantic love, take time out of your festivities to honor platonic love with The Golden Girls.

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and while we think about it as a holiday to celebrate romantic love, take time out of your festivities to honor platonic love with The Golden Girls.

The near-constantly showing syndicated sitcom brings its entire 180-episode run to Hulu Monday, so now you can hang with Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia whenever you want.

There are so many excellent episodes to scroll through, although I'm partial to "Isn't It Romantic?" where Dorothy's (Bea Arthur) lesbian friend from college develops a crush on Rose (Betty White), who doesn't know what a lesbian is. Or, "Ebbtide's Revenge" where Sophia (Estelle Getty) has to come to grips with the fact that her son was a cross-dresser. Or, "End of the Curse," where Blanche (Rue McClanahan) - who has defined herself by her sexuality her entire life - must come to terms with menopause.

The Golden Girls laid the groundwork for so many shows that put female friendships at their center, and there's nothing better than watching these ladies sit around their kitchen table, clad in their jammies, eating cheesecake and discussing their lives.

After you're done, call your bestie and sing the theme song to them: Thank you for being a friend.

Where to stream: Hulu, starting Feb. 13.

Like this? Binge these: Revel in the lady-friendships at the heart of Gilmore Girls (Netflix) or Broad City (Hulu). Enjoy Arthur and White in their previous roles in Maude (Hulu) and Mary Tyler Moore (Hulu).
