I was walking home from work this evening when I spotted these fantastic faeries gliding up Broad Street in a whirlwind of colorful crinoline and taffeta.
I was walking home from work this evening when I spotted these fantastic faeries parading up Broad Street in a whirlwind of colorful crinoline and sumptuous taffeta. They even tried to waltz right into the Union League, which caused quite a stir!
What is a "radical faerie" you ask? PhillyFaeries.net defines a radical faerie as:
a queer tribal nation sharing affinity in the spiritual underpinnings of non-mainstream sexuality and heart-centered relationship. We welcome all queer spirits, straight, gay, bi, trans, two-spirited or searching. We welcome people from all walks of life who want to share and nurture their essential fabulosity.
These radical faeries were out and about to promote what looks like a really interesting exhibit opening tonight at The William Way Community Center, Yoo hoo! The Culture & History of the Radical Faeries of Philadelphia.
There's actually a slew of radical faerie events happening around the 2012 Urban Gatherette, including some square dancing tomorrow night. Check it out.
