You'll be able to text 911 by May 2014

As part of an effort to modernize emergency responses, people across the country will be able to text 911 by May 2014. The FCC has gotten all four major mobile service providers—Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile—to sign on for the "text-to-911" plan that will start to roll out next year. By May 15, 2014, 90 percent of the country will have the opportunity to send a text to 911 in case of an emergency, along with accompanying videos and pictures. [Gizmodo]
